𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘: 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄, 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐋 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒

Monday, Monday, Monday. 'Tis the day to either make or break your healthy exercise and eating routines. For some, the very idea of a new work week sparks feelings of tension and drums up whispers of provocation. It can be challenging to go from relaxation to stimulation but with thoughtful conviction, Monday can be muscled through. To quote one of my favourite authors: "caution is coolish... fear is foolish." Thanks, Draper. You're no sluggard. Sundays are meant to be enjoyed in the most relaxing ways possible, but when Monday hits... well, as the saying goes: "once again it's on." If you, like many others, have a tough time turning the dial from tranquil to tough, consider the first of your supposed five day drudgery as a sandbox to dust the tools off within. Tie those laces, get behind the wheel, make your way to the gym and assess the selection of sizeable toys before you. Each and every one of them possesses a different outcome for not only today, but the rest of your week. So, what'll it be? Incline dumbbell presses to stimulate the upper pectorals, shoulders and triceps? Maybe. Smith machine squats to torch the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes and lower back? Possibly. T-bar rows for upper back, biceps and rear shoulder roasting? Perhaps. The gym is a metallic playground embellished with a handsome array of bodybuilding instruments, all of which can either hinder or benefit the start of your week. Listen to your body and exercise instinctively. I retired the pad and paper when the workout schemes I had pre-written for myself were no longer falling in line with what I mentally and physically felt like doing. I made sense of the fact that as long as I was pulling, pressing or pumping something, then I was still doing the best I could on that given day, regardless of what direction my workout plan was pointing me in. Being flexible with your exercise endeavours can make the process of getting hot, sweaty and gnarly feel a bit more agreeable, allowing you to save the Herculean leg and back workouts for the days that you're feeling fortified in mind, body and soul, largely and popularly known as Friday and Saturday. I'm not saying that you should take this bijou blog entry as an excuse to start a five day arm routine. It ain't that easy, Cheesy. Overall development will always be the objective, so staying on top of those heavy duty rows and leg presses is paramount - you just don't always have to hit 'em on Monday. As for me, I'm going to barbell squat on one foot while hitting dumbbell lateral raises. Saw it on TokTik. Until next time, be well and be happy.
